About

Derek Gebler is an experienced digital product leader. Over the last 20 years, Derek has a winning track record of working with some of the leading digital media communications companies in North America.

As a founding employee at Broadcast Interactive Media, he led the technical development and product management teams through intense periods of growth with broadcast groups such as Fisher Communications, NBC Universal and Telemundo Television Group.

In 2014 Derek founded Field59 Video to provide focused video solutions for broadcast and live events. During that time, Field59 grew into new markets and made key partnerships in the delivery of video for OTT and CTV. With Field59, Derek participated in several entrepreneurial organizations such as Madworks Seed Accelerator, Wisconsin Early Stage Symposium and Merlin Mentors. In April of 2018, he sold Field59 to CMS company TownNews.

During his time there, he helped grow that company’s profile among broadcast groups such as Meredith Broadcasting and Allen Media Group. Key to this growth was the acquisition and integration of a managed WordPress hosting provider which diversified the customer base and product offerings. Focused on video growth, he was an evangelist for OTT and CTV video applications, as well as new video advertising capabilities across those platforms.

He is co-organizer of 1 Million Cups Madison, a member of Capital Entrepreneurs, and volunteers on the Visual Communications Advisory Committee at Milwaukee Area Technical College. He has spoken about video and OTT topics for industry conference panels including Digital Entertainment World (DEW), Streaming Media East and West, Key Executives Mega-Conference and NewsTECHForum.

Derek is a published illustrator. His works include the daily comic strip Racetrack Road, which appeared in the Daily Californian and The Badger Herald. He has also illustrated the four-part fantasy book series, Sir Nathan’s Somewhat Silly Stories.
